Components and Controls Inc. (“CCI”), founded in 1972 and based in Carlstadt, NJ, is a leading regional value-added distributor, fabricator and assembler of highly engineered flow control components and systems owned for decades by entrepreneur Jerry Orlando. CCI and its Royal Instruments Division operate from strategically located facilities in Carlstadt and Cinnaminson, NJ, and New Castle, DE. The Company’s products and systems are sold to a diverse and long-established customer base comprised of leading companies in the energy, utilities, aerospace and defense, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, technology and other industries. Applications include components and systems for MRI machines and power plants, specialty gas distribution systems for semiconductor and other high-tech manufacturing, and mission-critical valves and instruments for production facilities in an array of process industries. As he approached retirement, Jerry Orlando was looking for a strategic partner to build on CCI’s long history of success and capitalize on significant growth in the flow control industry, while ensuring the continuity of the Company’s longtime customer and supplier relationships and the future of its employees. Silvergrove was engaged as the Company’s exclusive financial advisor to accomplish these critical objectives. Through a competitive process, Silvergrove identified and executed a transaction with Flow Control Group, an industry exemplar based in Charlotte, NC, and a portfolio company of leading private equity firm KKR & Co., Inc.
